Providing affordable residential solar for all.
On April 22, 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced awards for the $7 billion Solar for All program, part of the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund which was authorized by congress in the Inflation Reduction Act. The goal of the Solar for All program is to increase the number of low-income and disadvantaged communities that have access to solar.
The North Carolina EnergizeNC coalition, led by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s State Energy Office, in collaboration with the NC Clean Energy Technology Center, the NC Clean Energy Fund, and Advanced Energy, was awarded $156,120,000 in Solar for All funds to make solar more accessible and help families save on their electricity bills.
The EnergizeNC coalition is working to design programs that have the greatest impact with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, providing access to clean energy, reducing monthly energy bills, and improving quality of life. We are excited to announce that we have officially been awarded funding from EPA, allowing us to formally kick-off our program planning and design phase. Over the next few months, we will focus on creating the social, organizational, and financial systems needed to support the equitable expansion of solar across our great state.
EnergizeNC has not selected vendors and partners for deployment, but look forward to engaging with multiple stakeholders throughout our planning period. Engage with us!
